(E)  Minimizing the level of the conviction.  Counsel also normally seeks to minimize the level of the conviction.  For example, a felony conviction is worse than a misdemeanor conviction, and a misdemeanor worse than an infraction or violation for which no sentence to imprisonment is possible.  Certain immigration consequences depend on the level of the offense, and that different offense levels have different maximum terms of imprisonment, which can also have different immigration consequences.  See § § 10.21, 10.86-10.93, infra.
