Criminal Defense of Immigrants

The present authors have written a detailed work on avoiding deportability for criminal convictions.  N. Tooby & J. Rollin, Safe Havens: How to Identify and Construct Non-Deportable Convictions (2005).  See also § § 5.26-5.31 and Chapter 17, infra.  The “Safe Havens” book examines all 52 grounds of deportation and how to avoid them.  The conduct-based grounds of deportation do not have “safe havens” that are attainable in criminal court, since they are based on conduct, rather than convictions.
