§ 5.23 2. Inadmissibility

Counsel must screen each possible disposition in the criminal case to see if it triggers a conviction-based ground of inadmissibility, if the client either (a) wishes to travel outside the United States, secure in the ability to return here after the trip, or (b) wishes to obtain a different immigration status for which admissibility is a prerequisite.  See Chapter 18, infra, and Appendix E, infra, for a checklist of grounds of inadmissibility.
