Part I of this book is primarily focused on criminal defense of a current criminal case: what criminal defense counsel must do differently for an immigrant client than for a client who is a United States citizen. Sometimes, a client will also need post-conviction relief. Sometimes, an immigrant client will be placed in immigration proceedings. The most common situation, however, will be the defense of one or more criminal cases in criminal court.
