            If the equities are very strong, the prosecution and court may be willing to alter the record of conviction sufficiently to avert the adverse immigration consequences, even if the ground of legal invalidity is not particularly strong.   See Chapter 2, supra.   On the other hand, if the crime is very serious, and the prosecution and court would prefer that the client be deported permanently, then the ground of legal invalidity must be very strong indeed to force them to vacate the conviction.
