(B) Sentence At Time of Entry of Plea. In many cases, in which all parties have sufficient knowledge of the case to permit imposition of sentence, the court will ask the defendant to waive the right to delay of sentence and accept sentence immediately after entry of plea. This occurs particularly often in more minor cases. Even if the plea agreement does not predetermine the exact sentence that will be imposed, defense counsel must be prepared to handle the sentence proceedings so as to defend the client against adverse immigration consequences. See generally Chapter 10, Sentence, infra.
