Part I covers the handling of a criminal case from beginning to end, describing the ways in which the case of a noncitizen defendant differs from that of a defendant who is not at risk of deportation or other adverse immigration consequences resulting from the criminal case.
Because about 95% of all criminal cases result in pleas of guilty or no context, this volume focuses on negotiating dispositions in criminal court that will not trigger adverse immigration consequences.
