(A) A criminal lawyer or defendant consults immigration counsel before conviction and seeks (1) to learn the exact immigration consequences of a conviction of a charged offense or proposed disposition, and (2) if the proposed plea triggers removal, to learn what other dispositions or offenses of conviction will avoid deportability. See § 1.16, infra.
