(A)  In General.  A sentence in a criminal case can be important in triggering an immigration hold in the sense of placing the defendant in a position in which the immigration authorities notice that the defendant is subject to removal or subject to immigration detention.  See § 10.94(B), infra.  The sentence can also form a part of a disposition that triggers mandatory detention.  See § 10.94(C), infra.
