(B)  One Crime of Moral Turpitude Deportation Ground.  The current rule is that a CMT conviction triggers deportation only if the maximum potential sentence (rather than a sentence imposed or ordered by the court) is one year or more.  See § 10.79, infra.[318]

SENTENCE " SENTENCE IMPOSED " MAXIMUM SENTENCE
Several states have reduced the maximum sentence for misdemeanor offenses to 364 days. They include at least California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Washington. E.g., California Penal Code 18.5 (effective Jan. 1, 2014).
