(A)  In General.  The immigration effects of a conviction are fixed at the time of the original conviction and sentence, and are determined by the record of conviction in place at that time.  See Chapter 16, infra.  A probation violation allegation and finding do not alter the nature of the original conviction for immigration purposes, except insofar as a new sentence replaces the original sentence.  See § 10.48, infra.
