(B)  Review Them for Threats.  Next, defense counsel should independently or in consultation with immigration counsel review the defendant’s immigration situation to identify the primary threats of (a) triggering conduct-based immigration consequences, including grounds of deportation or inadmissibility; (b) admissions of committing the elements of a crime of moral turpitude or controlled substances offense; and (c) factual admissions that are included within the record of conviction to bring it within a ground causing deportation, inadmissibility, or other damaging immigration consequences.  See § 8.63, infra.
