The following is an overview of special issues related to juveniles (under 18 years old[522]) who come into contact with the DHS and are placed in removal proceedings.  For information on defense of juveniles in criminal court, the effects of juvenile adjudications on removability, and the criminal grounds of removal applicable to juveniles, see Chapter 12, supra.  See also § § 3.13-3.19, supra, for a discussion of how to determine whether a juvenile client is a United States citizen.
