One of the most common categories of deportable offenses is the category of drug offenses. It is particularly complicated to identify safe haven drug convictions, because a controlled substances conviction can trigger deportation under a number of grounds of deportation: an aggravated felony drug trafficking conviction, a controlled substances conviction, and the drug abuse/drug addiction conduct-based ground of deportation. Some drug convictions also constitute convictions of crimes of moral turpitude. The following convictions are believed not to trigger any of these four grounds of deportation.
