(A) Non-Conviction Based Grounds of Deportation. Most grounds of deportation seen in removal proceedings are based on a criminal conviction, such as a crime of moral turpitude, aggravated felony, firearm conviction, domestic violence conviction, or controlled substances conviction. There are a number of other, far less common, conviction-based grounds of deportation. See § § 2.7-2.8, infra; Appendix A, infra. The INA, however, also provides that a number of different grounds of deportation are triggered by conduct, even if there is no conviction. See § § 1.16, 2.9-2.10, infra.
