(B)  After Conviction.  If you were not able to get good immigration advice before entering a plea bargain, it is still wise to hire an immigration lawyer to assess the situation, see whether the conviction is causing you damage, and what can be done about it.  Don’t wait.  There are many time limits and deadlines that can prevent you from going back into criminal court to try to fix the situation, so get good legal advice as quickly as possible.  If you cannot afford a lawyer, and are forced to analyze your situation on your own, this book can provide information on safe havens, but be careful to understand what it does not cover.  See § § 1.15-1.19, infra.
